Whether standing in a lecture theater in front of 500 students, sitting with a dozen students in a seminar room, or taking students on an overseas trip to get an immersive experience, my aims are consistent: I want to engage students in the material, give them the means to formulate insightful questions, provide them the tools to answer those questions, and empower them as learners, as thinkers, as writers, and as citizens.
I received outstanding evaluations from students, gained a reputation as an excellent and engaging lecturer, won plaudits for the thoroughness and quality of my feedback, and earned awards for teaching, advising, and mentoring.
