Dear Representative Herrera Beutler:
I write to you for the second time in two days to urge you to continue to oppose the AHCA. The AHCA bill that was a bad idea yesterday — a bill that you rightly noted would “create difficulties for millions of children” — is a worse one today. The CBO reports that the changes made to the bill would cost an additional $186 billion (!), but would STILL leave 24 million people without coverage.
Health care is one of the most important issues facing the United States. We need to get it right. Ramming through a fatally flawed bill simply to score political points or to avoid a personal humiliation is not the basis for sound policy.
As a father of two children, as a taxpayer, and as a voter who is deeply concerned about the health and well-being of all Americans, I urge you to remain steadfast. This bill will harm all of us.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
André Lambelet
